Kinda gets more detailed as it goes on. My bad.
The Ordeal of the Chao
Timeline
The Clash
Quartz is in the rain in a forest and suffering. All of the chao gardens were destroyed, and he was one of the few to escape the madness. He is crying as he walks aimlessly, remembering slightly what happened. But it all happened too fast to remember much at the time being... That was when he heard something. Something was after him. He "knew" it was the mysterious figure who destroyed the chao gardens, and he was scared. Suddenly, something he could not quite see lashes out at him, and he sees a streak of red, and then nothing. He is knocked unconscious by the clash between the figure and the streak or red.
Blast from the Past
Quartz, as he is asleep, dreams of the chao garden being destroyed exactly as it did in real life. And finally, all he sees is flames and the screams of torment... And then he wakes up. He awakes, seeing Dash looking worriedly down at him. Quartz, however, doesn't know him. He tries to scramble away from him, but Dash merely tries to calm him down. Quartz, breathing heavily, stops trying to escape. He asks who Dash is and how he was knocked out. Dash tells him both, and asks him he was one of the few escapees from the incident. Quartz nods, asking him if he has any idea what happened. Dash isn't too sure either, but he tells him that they should travel together to try and get out of the jungle.
Walk it Off
They start to walk together, and the rain begins to be less heavy. Quartz asks if Dash is trying to find anything in particular, and Dash tells him "a friend". He asks the same thing in turn, and Quartz shrugs, telling him that if he found any friends that would be nice, but he thought them all dead. He asks Dash if he knows how many survived, and Dash tells him "probably about thirty chao out of the two thousand that lived before". Dash and Quartz both ponder how late it is, but they simply cannot tell. They are in so deep of a forest... The forest that surrounded the Chao Garden for miles. It is why they lived in peace so long; The garden was somewhere incredibly hard to find. Suddenly, there is a clearing, and they see a fairly small temple that looked Aztec... They decide that they should rest there for a while. They then discover a trap door and another door on the other side, but they were both locked in a strange way. That's when they figure out that the trap door needs two keys, but the other door remains a mystery.
Treasure Hunt
They know that the keys could be anywhere, but there was nothing to do, anywhere. Wherever they went was pointless... If they remained around the same spot, they might come across more chao, anyway. And that was what they wanted. They begin to look around, and they decide not to go "so far", and to remember the way they went. After a fair amount of time, they decide to separate. Dash cannot find anything for some time, but then he comes across a river. He could cross it, but he'd rather not; He'd remember where it was for later. He begins to head back to the temple, their rally point... Meanwhile, Quartz finds a very small building. The wooden doors had rotted away, and so he enters easily. He finds a hexagonal, stone little pit filled with dirt. He begins to dig through, and soon finds a statue of some kind... All he could tell was that it had an image of a chao... A dark normal, he believed. All he knew was that the size of the base was exactly that of the "key hole" that he had seen. He begins back to the rally point, and he arrives soon after Dash.
Let's Continue Our Little Jaunt
Dash sees Quartz arrive out of the trees with the statue, and he eagerly meets him. He tells him that he did a nice job in finding it, and they decide not to use it yet. Quartz asks Dash if he found anything himself, and Dash tells him about the river. They decide to head that way, and as they walk there, Quartz tells him about the little temple he found. Soon, they get to the river, and Quartz notices the fact that the river seems to loop awfully quickly. They cross the rather shallow river with little trouble, and they walk very little ways before seeing a small temple identical to what Quartz had seen before. They also notice that the river does loop perfectly around the temple, which makes Dash wonder where its source is... Soon, they find another statue exactly the same way, and it has a Hero Chao on it... Excited, they hurry back to the temple.
Dark Encounters
Quartz and Dash return to the temple, and they hurry up the steps to the trap door... Or, well, stone door. Suddenly, three black figures jump out of the trees and in back of them. They look behind them, only to see three chao that look like ninjas. Their intent is obviously hostile. Quartz wonders what's going on, but Dash met one of them before... He battled one, and that was what tried to attack Quartz. Dash trades a short-winded discussion with them, and hands Quartz his key. "Get ready" he whispers, and Quartz nods. Just before they start to battle, Quartz puts in both keys, and the stone door disintegrates with a yellow light. Quartz grabs Dash, and they both jump down, right as the ninjas began to attack them. As they fall, Quartz comments about how "it isn't going to be a soft landing", and Dash says "yeah!"... It is dark and cold, and they finally hit something... Water? A stream of water! That was thought very strange by both of them, as they knew they were far underground by now. Then, they were being pulled down, down, down by the stream. They were lucky they could breath, and then they were going at about a 45 degree angle downward... Suddenly, candles lit all around them as they fell. They were absolutely bewildered now, and it was too exciting to really think about it very hard. "Dash?! Are you alright?!" "Yeah!" a reply comes from a few feet behind him. Good, they weren't going to get separated. Suddenly, it began to flatten out, and they were nearly going perfectly horizontally, when suddenly it all stopped and all Quartz saw was the water slide ending, and him being thrown out of it.
The Chase Scene
Quartz awoke with sand on his face. He groaned, and he heard "Quartz? Quartz? Wake up..." He sat up, and saw a worried look on Dash's face. "What happened?" He said grogily. Dash explained to him that the water slide ended, and threw both of them out onto some sand. And that was where they were now. Luckily for both of them, Dash managed to land better than Quartz, and was not knocked unconscious. That's when in the silence, they heard a lot of noise nearby. It was coming from the "water slide"... They both looked at each other in amazement, and they wondered why they'd seriously go so far to get them... I mean, come on, it could be a one-way trip for all of them! So they begin to run, blah blah. They take a left and see a long, long, hallway that has many twists and bends, strange to them as it is all made of brick... Some form of brick anyway. They run down it as fast as they can, wondering how exactly everything got here- it was all amazing. After a fair amount of time, it finally stops, and they are in the middle of a rather large room. The walls are covered with murals of chao wielding a certain sword... Different chao, but the same sword. They are both a little scared that they are stopped now though, but they look ahead... And see the sword that was depicted in the mural. They both looked at each other, thinking the same thing; use it against the coming ninjas.
The Battle
But just as they are beginning to run to it, the ninjas come into the room, running fast. Quartz and Dash knew they had little time to react. They begin to fight blah blah... Quartz and Dash have to use hand-to-hand combat whereas the ninja chao also have shuriken... Quartz manages to take out 1, and so does Dash... Then he gets hit, hard, in the face. He falls to the ground, and the ninja follows him and begins to practically gang bang him. Quartz finally manages to take out the before mentioned 1, and comes quickly to Dash's aid. He kicks the ninja in the face so hard that it breaks his head open, and the ninja falls to the ground so hard that brains actually spew onto the ground. Quartz quickly looks at Dash. He is very, very injured. He knew he had to get help, fast. "Damn it! How are we supposed to get out of here?!"
Rescue Mission
Quartz picks up Dash with one arm, showing his immense strength, and with the other, takes the sword out of the altar. Suddenly, lots of lights flash and they are whipped around in something like another reality. Then, they appear quite suddenly at the door entrance of the temple. "Well. That was useful. But..." He looked down at Dash's face. Damn, he looked too injured to go on for much longer. This was bad. Very bad. There was no help, ever. And Quartz knew he could never live it down if he let him die here. How would he go about healing him?! Suddenly, he looks down the steps of the temple. He couldn't tell what the figure was, but it looked like a white and purple chao. He raced down the steps, and planted his sword in the ground so that he could better hold Dash. "Umm... Hello?" The figure looked up. Yep, it was a chao, and definitely not a wanderer. It was a chao that was crying. She was lost. And she appeared to be a... Hero Fly. Quartz blushed slightly; he always thought that Hero Fly chao were pretty. "H...hi..." She looked at Dash. Her eyes widened suddenly, and the tears were definitely going away already. "Dash!" She said suddenly. Quartz was surprised. She knew him? "What happened to him?! You better not have done it!" He shook his head. "No. In fact, he saved me once, and I just got done... Sort of, saving him. I wish I could have done it a little earlier, actually..." She held out her hands. "Please, let me hold him..." Quartz handed Dash over to her, and she gracefully lay him down. Then, she put both her hands on his head, the most injured part of his body. The figure whispered strange things, and her hands glow light blue. Suddenly, injuries on Dash's head started to go away. Quartz looked surprised. Dash was lucky. Very lucky. There was nothing either one of them could have done about it. She gradually did the same to other parts of his body until he was almost completely healed. Quartz didn't want to mention how he was slightly injured himself. She had just done a lot for him, and he wasn't about to complain.
